Russell Westbrook wear Air Jordan 31 for Secures Triple-Double Average

When I was growing up, Oscar Robertson’s triple-double season seemed mythical. Just recording a single triple-double could land a player the lead segment on Sports Center or partially inspire one of the greatest hip hop songs ever recorded. LeBron James, the greatest all-around player of my time, has made a career out of stuffing the stat sheet, but never came close to threatening the Big O’s single season mark. Then, Russell Westbrook happened.

With a personal motto of  Air Jordan xxx1 “Why Not?” and his former running mate now playing for a rival, Westbrook entered the season like he had something to prove. After letting the world know that he now does what he wants, the Brodie put unprecedented numbers on the boards. Month by month, his triple-double average held up, sparking a conversation that many thought would never be possible. On Tuesday, Westbrook tied Robertson with 41 triple-doubles in a season, but there was still business to take care of in last night’s game against the Phoenix Suns.

Westbrook needed 6 assists to clinch a triple-double average for the season, a feat unseen since 1961-62. Early in the third quarter, he hit Victor Oladipo for a fast break layup to make things official.

Russell Westbrook made history in his soon-to-release “Why Not?” Air Jordan 31 PE. Shortly after the game, Jordan Brand confirmed an Apr. 29 release date for the elephant print accented sneakers.

The only piece of history left for Westbrook now is to pass Robertson for most triple-doubles in a season. Oklahoma City has three games left, beginning with a trip to Denver tomorrow night.

This Air Jordan XXX1 Why Not features a Black upper with elephant print wrapping the heel which has a ‘Black Cement’ Air Jordan 3 feel to them. In addition we have hints of Orange and Blue on the Flywire cables, liner and around the collar that is a tribute to the OKC Thunder. The midsole which is done in White is taken from the Air Jordan XXX which also features a small galaxy window. Finishing the look is a translucent outsole with ‘Why’ and ‘Not?’.
