The Air Jordan 4 is one of my favorite Air Jordans, and the Motorsports Jordan 4 is one of my favorite types of Air Jordan releases–an old sample we thought would never see retail shelves. Maybe they don’t have a ton of relevance today in comparison to when they originally surfaced (considering Michael Jordan Motorsports hasn’t even been a thing since 2014), but they looked better than ever.
To bring you up to speed, this colorway was originally created in 2006 around the time of the “Mars” Jordan IV release. Like the “Mars” 4s, this pair featured an imprint of Mars Blackmon near the heel and white-based color blocking, but that’s where the similarities ended.
Similar to the pair that was exclusively gifted to Michael Jordan’s 4 Motorsports Team in 2006, the shoe features blocking similar to the original “Fire Red” colorway, but with blue in place of red. Unlike the sample, the retail pair does not bear the Mars Blackmon stamp near the heel.
The removal of the Mars head graphic was even a bonus over the original pairs. It may have helped tell a story on the Fire Red 4s, but never actually added to the shoe’s aesthetics. Here’s to hoping that more of these unreleased sneakers are on their way to retail soon.
the sneaker features a mix of white, varsity royal, and black. Unlike the original sample, the sneaker does not feature the Mars Blackmon accent. Release date is March 25, 2017 at a retail price of $95. Or you like UNDER ARMOUR CURRY 2.
